An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-9 fighter in 1:48 scale from Hobby Boss. It is a modern mold with fine engraved surface detail. Besides the plastic parts the box contains clear canopy parts, a small photo-etched fret and decals, so you have a solid basis for a detailed build right in the box.
The Fw 190D-9, nicknamed Dora, was an inline-engined fighter with a lengthened nose and a liquid-cooled inverted V12 engine, which set it markedly apart from the radial-engined Fw 190A versions. The D-9 version was the first Dora variant committed to combat and it was one of the highest-performing German piston fighters of the end of the Second World War. It came to the fight too late, however, so it could no longer have any decisive effect on the course of the war.
Use liquid cement for plastic and work in subassemblies. Finish and paint the cockpit before you close up the fuselage. Glue the photo-etched parts with super glue. Apply a primer before painting; laying the paints down with an airbrush is ideal. On late German schemes you will appreciate a light emphasis of the panel lines and restrained wear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
