Small figures of freshwater fish in 1:48 scale. This is not a kit, but a scene accessory for dioramas where water, a bank or a fishing motif appears. Fish belong precisely to the details that surprise a viewer, because nobody expects them in a modeling scene, and yet they can explain the whole vignette better than two more figures would.
Several routes suggest themselves. A fish cast into a layer of water effects looks most natural when it is placed just below the surface and the top layer is poured only after the first has dried. The second option is a catch on the bank, in a basket, on a line or in the hand of a figure. In a military scene such a detail brings civilian calm; in country and fishing vignettes it is a natural center of attention.
Rinse and degrease the figures and cut the casting residue off with a sharp knife. Apply a thin coat of primer before painting. A fish body looks good when the back is darkened, the flanks stay mid-tone and the belly is lightened, with the transitions blurred. The fish scales can be suggested with a fine wash and a dry brush. A gloss clear coat is essential on fish, because a wet surface is what gives them away; a flat finish looks like a plastic toy. Leave the fins thin and more translucent.
