This item is not a kit, but a masking accessory for modelers. It contains self-adhesive templates cut for a model of the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 in the A-5 and A-6 versions in 1:48 scale. The templates are stuck onto the model before spraying and taken off once the paint has dried, so the edge stays sharp even without the labor of cutting masking tape. The real subject

The Focke-Wulf Fw 190 differed from the fighters of its day in its air-cooled BMW 801 radial engine, its wide-track undercarriage and a rounded canopy giving a good view. Against the older machines the A-5 version had a slightly lengthened forward fuselage, which improved the balance, and it became the basis for a great many equipment sets. The following A-6 brought changes to the wing and the armament. Both versions kept the same overall airframe shape, which is why the masking for them is handled together.

Use and tips

• Degrease the surface of the model before sticking the templates on and let the base coat cure.
• Press the edge of the mask down along its whole length, so that no paint creeps under it.
• Spray thin layers perpendicular to the edge of the mask, not at an angle underneath it.
• Take the masks off shortly after the paint has dried, slowly and at a sharp angle.
