This set from Eduard's resin line brings GBU-16 laser-guided bombs in 1:48 scale. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory for the stores with which you arm a finished model of a modern combat machine. It usually holds cast bomb bodies with the guidance head and the tail unit, photo-etched sheet and decals with technical lettering.
The GBU-16 belongs to the family of American laser-guided bombs. It comes about by fitting a conventional bomb with a guidance head carrying a laser seeker at the front and a control tail unit, while the warhead matches the 1000-pound weight class, that is about 454 kilograms. It is carried by a number of Western tactical aircraft.
Wash the parts to remove mold release residue, separate them from the casting blocks and glue them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Bend the fine photo-etched tail surfaces exactly as instructed. Lay down a smooth gloss coat before the decals.
This is an add-on set, not a standalone model. Paints, glue and the base model are not included in the package.
