A photo-etched set in 1:48 scale for a model of a German tank destroyer. The thin metal parts replace flat details that cannot come out in plastic.
Responsibility details are not available.
Panzerjäger is the collective German designation for tank destroyers of the Second World War. They were usually an anti-tank gun set into a superstructure on the chassis of a tracked vehicle; the traverse of the barrel was limited and aiming was done by turning the whole machine. The superstructure was often open at the top, so the fighting compartment is visible and on a model it pays to give attention even to the small things that would otherwise stay hidden.
These are photo-etched parts made of thin sheet metal. In 1:48 scale they replace flat items that cannot be made thin enough in injection-molded plastic, and they are used to add edges and mesh surfaces. Metal holds its shape after bending, so it looks more faithful than the corresponding plastic part. Check in the manufacturer's instructions which kit the set is shaped for.
The parts are held in the fret by thin tabs. Separate them with a sharp blade on a hard surface rather than by twisting, otherwise the sheet will buckle. Make the bends in a photo-etch bending tool or between the jaws of flat pliers, always along the marked score and in one movement. Use cyanoacrylate glue applied with a pin in a minute quantity for joining, or solder. Degrease the sheet before painting and spray a primer on, because otherwise the paint does not hold on smooth metal and rubs off while the model is handled.
The package contains photo-etched parts. The kit, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
