Replacement exhaust nozzles for a model of the Grumman F-14A Tomcat in 1:48 scale, in the open and the closed position.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Grumman F-14A Tomcat is an American carrier-based fighter with a variable-sweep wing and a crew of two. Its engine nacelles are set far apart and end in conspicuous exhaust nozzles, which are among the first things you look at on a model from behind. The nozzles change their cross-section with the power setting, so in photographs you will see them fully open one time and closed up another.
The set offers replacement exhaust nozzles for the F-14A in 1:48 scale, in both an open and a closed version - so you choose the position to suit the scene you are building. They replace the kit parts, which tend to be thick-walled and split, so that seams are left on the model afterward. How many parts the package contains and which kit the set is prepared for are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder down carefully, then wash and degrease the surfaces. The parts are bonded with cyanoacrylate glue. Paint the inside of the nozzles before you seat them on the model; later it is hard to reach in there with a brush. Metallic shades on nozzles look better when you differentiate them from one another and add a dark wash into the seams. Fit the finished parts at the very end of building the rear fuselage, because they are easily damaged during further handling.
The set suits anyone who builds the Tomcat and wants a rear end that is sharp from close up and in a photograph. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
