The photo-etched set 1:48 Grumman TBF-1C Avenger interior from the Czech manufacturer Eduard. The metal parts refine the fit of the cockpit of the carrier-based torpedo bomber.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not a kit of the aircraft but an accessory set of photo-etched metal parts aimed at the interior. The base Avenger model in 1:48 scale has to be obtained separately. Photo-etched parts are made by chemically etching thin sheet, so they have a thickness and a sharpness injection-molded plastic cannot reach.
The Avenger has a glazed and clearly visible cockpit, and moreover one with room for further crew members. The plastic rendering of the instrument panels, consoles, levers and seat belts is always simplified — it is a technological compromise. A photo-etched set replaces these thinnest elements and the interior thereby gains a believable scale. The exact extent of the parts is not stated here; an overview and the advisable order of work are given in the instructions enclosed with the set. Check as well that the set matches your kit.
Deal with the interior before you glue the fuselage together — once it is closed you will no longer get inside. Separate the parts with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface and bend them in a bending tool or between two razor blades. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue applied on the tip of a toothpick; any excess will dull the surfaces around it. Carefully cut away the original plastic details that the etched part replaces and sand the surface down. Degrease and prime the metal before painting. Paint the cockpit and if you wish drybrush it before the glazing is installed.
This is an accessory set, not a kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
