A one-sided painting mask for the Hawker Hurricane Mk.II in 1:48 scale from Art Scale. Precisely die-cut self-adhesive masks for the canopy glazing.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of die-cut self-adhesive masks for the glazing frames of a model of the British fighter in 1:48 scale. It is a painting accessory, not a kit and not a replacement clear part. The masks are stuck onto the canopy, the model is sprayed and once it has dried they are removed. The set is cut for the specific Arma Hobby kit.
The difference shows best at exactly this scale. The canopy frame here is a fraction of a millimeter wide, and when tape is cut by hand the width inevitably varies; the eye catches it immediately on a finished model, because the frames form a regular grid. A die-cut mask has its width set by the shape of the cut and holds it even around curves, where tape would have to be nicked and folded over. The second advantage is time: instead of tens of minutes with a scalpel it is a few minutes of sticking. The Hurricane had a canopy divided into several frames plus the windshield panel, so the saving is not negligible.
Degrease the clear part, lift the masks with tweezers and lay them down by one edge first, only then settle the rest; that way you avoid bubbles. Press the edges down with a toothpick. The Mk.II version was powered by the Rolls-Royce Merlin XX engine; check the particular subversion against your own kit, although it has no bearing on the shape of the masks.
