Dead Design templates for spraying the national insignia of the British fighter Hurricane in 1:48 scale. The set does not deal with the glazing of the cabin but with the markings on the airframe. Paint applied through the template creates an insignia that is a part of the finish and has no transparent carrier film as a decal does.
The Hurricane Mk.IIc was the cannon version of the type, with four 20 mm cannons in the wing. British machines carried camouflage made up of dark shades, and that is precisely the decisive circumstance for sprayed markings.
Light shades have little covering power and on a dark base they stay dirty and weak, even if you apply them in several coats. Proceed, therefore, the opposite way from what seems logical. First spray a covering white through the template as a base, let it dry and only then apply the target shade on top of it. The white coat also gives away whether the paint runs under the border anywhere, and you will correct any mistake before the resulting color goes onto the model. Spray thinly and straight on; a thick coat always runs under.
