A set of photo-etched parts in 1:48 scale for a model of the German He 162A-2 jet fighter. Thin metal replaces plastic parts that are too thick.
Responsibility details are not available.
The He 162 is a German jet fighter of the last year of the Second World War. It came about in an extraordinarily short time as a simple and cheap machine intended for mass production, and the structure matched that: a large part of the airframe was of wood, the engine hung in a nacelle above the fuselage and the tail carried two vertical surfaces at its tips. The pilot sat in a cockpit right at the front and had an ejection seat at his disposal, which was not usual at the time. The A-2 version carried a pair of cannons of 20 mm caliber.
The set contains parts etched from thin metal sheet. A photo-etched part can be as thin as the scale would call for, which cannot be achieved with injection-molded plastic. It comes into its own wherever the real subject has a thin wall, a strap or a grille. The range of the parts and their position on the model are given in the instructions enclosed by the manufacturer.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard backing and level the remnant of the bridge with a fine file. Make the bends in the marked score over a straight edge or in a bending tool, always in one movement. Metal is joined with cyanoacrylate glue, and with epoxy on larger areas; cement for polystyrene does not hold on it. Before painting, wash and degrease the sheet and put a base coat under it, or the paint will rub off the smooth metal when handled.
The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
