The photo-etched set 1:48 Hunter FGA.9 landing flaps from Eduard is aimed at the landing flaps of the British Hawker Hunter. It is a metal accessory for a plastic kit in 1:48 scale, not a standalone model.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set belongs to the full photo-etched sets from Eduard and concerns the landing flaps. The parts are etched from thin metal sheet and are supplied in bare metal, so they are painted on the model. It is not an aircraft kit; it is an accessory used with a plastic model of the Hawker Hunter in 1:48 scale.
Why the flaps are replaced. Injection-molded plastic has a technologically fixed minimum thickness, and the trailing edge of a flap therefore comes out on a model many times thicker than reality. Metal solves that problem: a photo-etched part is thin and looks convincing at the edge when seen from the side. That is exactly why the flaps are most often replaced on models built with the flaps lowered, where the inside and the edge are visible.
The Hawker Hunter was a British subsonic combat aircraft with a swept wing and a Rolls-Royce Avon jet engine. The FGA.9 version was intended for attacks on ground targets and derived from the fighter form; it had a structure modified for carrying armament under the wing and changes for service in a warm climate. The Royal Air Force operated it mainly from overseas bases.
Reckon on this work being more demanding than gluing photo-etched parts into a cockpit. The plastic flaps have to be cut off first and the surface evened out, and the metal parts are then assembled and bent. Use a bender for the bends, or at least two straight jaws, and never your fingers. They are glued with super glue, which sets quickly, so dry-fit the part first. Degrease the metal before painting and give it a coat of primer for metal, otherwise the finish will peel off easily.
