An injection-molded plastic kit of the British Hawker Hurricane fighter and ground-attack aircraft in its Mk.IID Trop version in 1:48 scale from Hobby Boss. The model captures the specialized anti-tank modification with tropical equipment for service in the desert. Check the actual contents of the box and the number of decal schemes against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The Hurricane Mk.IID was the anti-tank (tank-buster) derivative of the classic Hurricane fighter. Under its wings it carried a pair of large-caliber 40 mm anti-tank cannons supplemented by machine guns for aiming; it was powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 engine. The Trop version had a distinctive tropical dust filter under the nose, so that the engine would stand up to sand. These machines proved themselves in North Africa against armored vehicles and supply columns.
Glue the parts with thin plastic cement, fill the seams and sand them down. Paint the cockpit interior and pick out the detail before closing the fuselage; align the underwing gun pods and the tropical filter carefully. Apply a primer before painting and cover the surfaces with an airbrush. Desert machines carried camouflage in sand and brown tones with a light undersurface — after a gloss coat and the decals, bring out the panel lines with a wash and add dust and service effects.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
