1:48 Hurricane Mk.I wheels is an add-on set from Eduard that replaces the wheels from the plastic kit of the British Hawker Hurricane Mk.I fighter in 1:48 scale. It is not a model of the airplane but a detail that shows at once on a finished model.
Responsibility details are not available.
Replacement wheels for a model of the Hawker Hurricane Mk.I in 1:48 scale. The set replaces the parts from the kit and brings a more accurate shape of the rim and a truer texture of the tire, including details that are hard to reproduce in a split plastic mold. Together with the cockpit, the wheels are one of the first places where the difference between a basic build and a build with accessories shows on a model.
The Hawker Hurricane Mk.I was a British single-seat fighter of mixed construction: a tube-frame fuselage with fabric covering and a metal wing. During the Battle of Britain it made up the numerically strongest part of Fighter Command and was credited with more kills than any other British type of the time. It was powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 and its sturdy landing gear retracted inwards toward the fuselage.
Separate the parts from the casting blocks with a saw or a knife, level the area and wash the wheels so that no residue from production stays on them. Bonding is done with super glue. Paint the rim and the tire separately: the rim most often in the shade of the airframe finish, the tire in dark gray, because pure black looks unnatural on a model. The transition between the rim and the tire is easier to do with a mask or a precise brush stroke than freehand with an airbrush. A little light dust pigment around the circumference gives the wheels the look of operating from a grass airfield.
