The templates follow the divided frames of the cabin glazing precisely, and the range includes masks for spraying the national insignia and markings as well, so that you can do without decals. It is not a kit but an accessory for painting one, intended for the modernized version of this aircraft; the masks are cut to fit a particular model, so check compatibility with your kit beforehand.
The Ilyushin Il-2 was a Soviet armored ground-attack aircraft and, with tens of thousands of examples built, it is one of the most numerously built military aircraft in history. The peculiarity of its design was a load-bearing armored bathtub, which protected the engine, the radiators and the crew from fire from the ground. The machine operated in the direct support of ground units on the Eastern Front; later two-seat modifications added a station for a rear gunner.
Degrease the glazing, transfer the masks with tweezers and smooth the edges down carefully, especially in the corners of the divided frames. Spray with an airbrush in light layers at right angles to the edge of the mask. Once the last layer has dried, take the masks off carefully; any small shortcomings can be retouched with a brush.
