An injection-molded plastic kit of the Chinese supersonic fighter Chengdu J-7G in 1:48 scale from the brand Trumpeter. This richly broken-down tooling offers engraved surface detail, a well-worked cockpit, a detailed landing gear with rubber tires, an engine with an exhaust nozzle, optional airbrakes and underwing armament. A sheet of photo-etched parts is usually included too. For the exact markings and the number of schemes, go by the instructions.
The Chengdu J-7 is the Chinese licensed and further developed version of the Soviet MiG-21 fighter. It carries the characteristic delta wing and a circular nose air intake with a regulating cone. The J-7G version is one of the late, modernized machines of the family - it received a newer radar and improved avionics and it carried guided air-to-air missiles. It was one of the most widespread light fighters of the People's Liberation Army Air Force, and derivatives of the MiG-21 served all over the world for many decades.
Assemble and paint the cockpit before closing the fuselage, and mask the glazing. Decide in advance whether you will build the airbrakes open. Lay out the underwing armament according to the scheme you choose. Use thin liquid cement on the plastic, and glue the photo-etched parts and the fine antennas with cyanoacrylate glue. Apply primer before painting; spray the metallic gray or camouflage scheme with an airbrush and pick out the panel lines with a dark wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
