The Ju 87 Stuka is a German dive bomber with an inverted gull wing and fixed landing gear in aerodynamic fairings. The B-2 version was among the early series from the beginning of the war; on machines of this generation, sirens appeared on the landing gear legs, whose howling in a dive was meant to work on the morale of those below. The R-2 conversion turned it into a machine of greater range: it carried auxiliary fuel tanks under the wings and proved itself where it was necessary to reach further from base, above all over the sea.
This is a photo-etched fret in 1:48 scale for a model of the Ju 87B-2 and its long-range R-2 variant. Etched parts are fitted where plastic runs into the limits of what it can do, that is, on thin sheet, perforated surfaces and small fittings that for production reasons would have to be thicker than the scale allows. The specific list of parts and the kit the fret is cut for are given in the instructions enclosed by the manufacturer.
Before you fit an etched part, sand away the original molded detail on the plastic that it is to replace; otherwise the new part will not seat and will look stuck on. Hold small parts with a piece of adhesive tape wound onto a stick, from which they release more easily than from tweezers. Cut on glass or another hard surface; a soft base bends the part. Dose the super glue with the tip of a wire, not straight from the bottle. Before painting, wash and degrease the parts and lay down a thin primer coat, so that the finish does not peel off during further handling.
