Replacement exhaust stacks in resin for a model of the Junkers Ju 87B dive bomber in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit of the aircraft but a detail accessory. This variant of the set is cast for a build with an exposed engine, that is for a model whose side panels of the engine cowling are removed and the powerplant is visible. The stacks therefore have the parts rendered that stay hidden with the cowling closed, and with a closed engine you would not make use of them.
The Junkers Ju 87B is a single-engine two-seat dive bomber with a characteristic inverted gull wing and fixed landing gear in aerodynamic fairings. It was powered by a liquid-cooled inverted V12, which carried the exhaust gases away through a row of short stacks on both sides of the engine cowling. The side panels of the cowling were removable so that mechanics could reach the engine, and in period photographs from field airfields an aircraft with an exposed powerplant is a common sight, which makes it a rewarding subject for a maintenance diorama.
Cut the castings off the casting blocks with a fine saw and level the seating surfaces. Wash the resin in lukewarm soapy water before painting. It is bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Paint the exhausts with a dark metallic base, darken the mouths and work the surface up with rusty and gray-brown pigments. If you are building a model with an exposed engine, take care that the coloring of the exhausts matches the rest of the engine compartment, because strongly burnt metal next to a clean engine block looks out of place.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
