A set of elements for sharpening up the GOES-451 optronic station under the nose of the Ka-52 helicopter in 1:48 scale, prepared for the kit from Zvezda.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Ka-52 is a Russian attack helicopter with a pair of coaxial main rotors, thanks to which it needs no tail rotor. Under the nose it carries a gyro-stabilized optronic station designated GOES-451, which serves for finding and tracking targets. It is a prominent spherical feature in exactly the place where every visitor to a display case looks first.
Elements for rendering the GOES-451 optronic station in 1:48 scale, prepared for the Ka-52 helicopter kit from Zvezda. The aim is to sharpen up the shape and the color breakdown of an assembly that the plastic kit handles in a simplified way, so that it looks like an instrument and not like a smooth ball.
First paint the area under the station, let the paint dry completely and degrease the surface. The way the parts are applied differs between the individual Quinta Studio ranges, so follow the manufacturer's instructions enclosed with this set. Any three-dimensional parts are not polystyrene and are glued with cyanoacrylate glue. Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder down carefully; wash and degrease the part before painting.
For the modeler who is building the Ka-52 in 1:48 scale and wants a legible instrument on the nose instead of a simplified shape. The job is short but fiddly, so fine-pointed tweezers and good lighting come in handy. The set does not contain a kit, paints or glue, unless stated otherwise.
