A heavy missile for targets that survive an ordinary bomb

The Kh-29 came about as an answer to tasks that light armament could not manage. Bridges, fortified shelters, concrete areas or ship hulls called for a hit by a warhead whose weight ran into hundreds of kilograms, and at the same time it had to be placed accurately. The result was an exceptionally bulky short range weapon in which the warhead is roughly half the total weight.

The letter L in the designation means guidance by laser beam. The target has to be illuminated throughout the flight, whether from the attacking machine or from another source, and the missile aims at the reflected point. This method is sensitive to cloud and smoke, but it allows a hit within a few meters, which with a weapon of this weight class means certainty of destroying a hard target.

The set brings two missiles. The resin castings have sharper edges and a finer surface texture than injection molding would allow, so even the small aerodynamic surfaces and the optical section at the front look convincing. The material also takes sanding down to a very thin profile, which you will appreciate on the rear stabilizing surfaces.

Before building it is advisable to wash the parts in lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap, because residue of mold release agent clings to the surface. The casting blocks are separated with a fine toothed saw, not by breaking. They are glued with cyanoacrylate or with epoxy; glue for polystyrene does not dissolve resin and therefore does not hold.

The scope of the delivery consists of the resin castings. A carrier, a pylon and the model of the aircraft itself are ordered separately.
