Art Scale 1:48 Ki-21-Ia Sally double-sided express fit mask is a double-sided masking set for the extensive glazing of a model of the Japanese bomber in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
An Art Scale masking set for a model of the Japanese Mitsubishi Ki-21-Ia bomber, known to the Allies under the code name Sally, in 1:48 scale. The double-sided designation means that the set is prepared for both sides of the glazing. On a multi-seat bomber with a glazed nose and several gun stations that is a substantial difference against the single-sided version.
Degrease the glazing and let it dry. Carry the pieces of the mask with tweezers, press them down above all at the edges and spray the paint in several thin coats. A heavy wet coat runs under the edge and the edge smears. Take the mask off shortly after the paint has dried, pulling at an angle away from the frame. With a double-sided set the inner side is painted in the interior shade first, the outer side only afterwards.
The Mitsubishi Ki-21 was the standard heavy bomber of the Imperial Japanese Army Air Force and in the first years of the war served on most fronts from China to Southeast Asia. The Ki-21-Ia version was among the earliest batches. Characteristic is the extensive glazed nose and a row of gun stations, thanks to which the model has an unusually large area of frames and masking takes longer on it than on a fighter.
This is a masking accessory for painting a model and is sold separately. Neither paints nor the target model are included in the package.
