A shaped masking set for a model of the Nakajima Ki-43-II Hayabusa in 1:48 scale. The elements are applied before spraying and lifted once the paint has dried.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Nakajima Ki-43-II Hayabusa was a light single-engine fighter of the Japanese Army Air Force; the Allies called it Oscar. It was one of the most numerous Japanese fighters of the war, valued for its agility, with markedly rounded shapes of fuselage and wing that place demands on leading the edges of the spraying accurately when masking.
Masking elements in 1:48 scale shaped to this type. They are peeled off the backing sheet and laid directly on the model. Which surfaces the set covers is given in the manufacturer's instructions; go through them before you start spraying, so that you know in what order to proceed.
Masking is done before painting, onto a dry, degreased surface. Fingerprints and remnants of sanding dust are the most common reason for paint creeping under an edge.
The set is for a modeler who is building the Ki-43-II in 1:48 scale and wants the transitions between colors sharp without having to cut tape into curves. The masks are shaped to a particular kit, so check beforehand which kit you have. This is an accessory to a model: the kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
