Responsibility details are not available.
A set of pre-cut masking stencils in 1:48 scale for the Japanese Kikka jet aircraft. The masks are cut from fine kabuki-type masking tape, which follows the rounded shapes of the clear parts well and leaves no adhesive on the glazing once taken off. Besides the cockpit frames, the set covers the wheel discs as well. The stencils are cut to the shape of a particular kit in this scale, so it is neither universal tape nor decals.
The Kikka was a Japanese twin-engined jet aircraft from the very close of the Second World War. It was powered by a pair of Ne-20 jet engines slung under the wing and the design provided for folding the wings to save space. The machine reached only the prototype stage, and the first flight took place in August 1945. The cockpit has fairly divided framing, so masking by hand is slow and the result tends to be uneven.
First degrease the clear parts and let them dry out perfectly. Lift the individual masks off the backing film with tweezers, lay them on the frame and press them down with a toothpick or a wooden stick, especially carefully at the edges. The proven procedure is to spray a thin coat of the interior paint first and only then the exterior coat. The very first very thin pass seals the edges of the mask and prevents the paint from running under. Take the masks off shortly after drying, not after several days. Complete any areas of glazing that the set does not cover with a piece of the same tape or with masking fluid.
It is an accessory to a model, not a kit. The model itself, paints and glue are not included in the package.
