A resin detail set from the Aires brand with a KM-1 ejection seat in 1:48 scale, intended for the cockpits of Soviet fighters of the MiG-21 and MiG-23 type and related machines. It is not an aircraft kit but an aftermarket accessory for more experienced modelers. The seat is faithfully cast in resin and complemented by photo-etched sheet for the finest elements such as the straps and the levers.
The KM-1 was a Soviet ejection seat used in a number of fighters from the MiG design bureau. It allowed an emergency escape over a wide range of speeds and altitudes. In 1:48 scale the seat is the dominant element of an open cockpit, so an accurate rendering of it lifts the level of the whole interior considerably.
These are resin parts for the advanced. Wash the seat in warm soapy water to remove mold release residue, cut off the casting block with a saw and clean up the surface. Bond the resin parts with super glue (cyanoacrylate) and fold the photo-etched elements exactly to shape. Protect your airways when sanding resin: the dust is harmful. The details come into their own once painted and the shadows are picked out.
The set does not contain the model itself, glue or paints. It is meant to complete an existing kit in the given scale.
