Photo-etched grilles for the KV-2 1:48 from the Czech maker Hauler give the engine deck of a model a genuinely cut-through grille instead of a pattern suggested in plastic.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of thin brass grilles from the Czech maker Hauler meant for the model of the Soviet KV-2 heavy tank. It is not a kit but an accessory for a model you already have. The set is cut for the Tamiya kit.
On heavy tanks the engine deck is a large area that everyone looks at from above when a model is displayed. A plastic grille is only an engraving into a solid surface, so even the best painting will not turn it into an opening. A photo-etched grille really is cut through, and a shadow appears beneath it that gives the upper surface depth. Thanks to its tall turret the KV-2 is a model on which the view from above offers itself particularly often.
The most common mistake is to brush thick paint onto the grille - the openings get sealed and the whole point of the replacement disappears. Spray thin paint in several light coats and from a greater distance, so that material does not build up on the grille. Apply a wash spot by spot on the edges, not over the whole area. Dust and dirt suit grilles, but apply them with dry pigment and only to the edges, so that the openings stay clear. Degrease the photo-etch before painting and spray it with a base coat.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and without the base kit. Glue, paints and the model of the vehicle are not included in the package.
