This set from the aircraft aftermarket manufacturer Aires/Quickboost is a resin replacement for the exhaust pipes of a model of the La-5FN fighter in 1:48 scale. It is not an airplane kit but a detail accessory that replaces the plastic exhausts from the base kit with more finely cast parts, usually with suggested hollow outlets. The exhausts are among the clearly visible features on the sides of the engine section.
The Lavochkin La-5FN was a more capable Soviet fighter of the Second World War, powered by a boosted version of the air-cooled radial engine. The arrangement of the exhaust pipes emerging from the engine cowling is worth rendering in detail on a model.
First wash the mold release residue off the resin parts, carefully cut off the casting blocks and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection. They are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). We recommend painting the exhausts in burnt metal shades and picking them out with rust and soot; the hollow outlets come alive once the inside is darkened.
This is an accessory, not a complete model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
