Resin wheels for the Lockheed Martin F-35B in 1:48 scale from Eduard replace the split plastic wheels from the kit. It is a detail set, not an aircraft model.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set contains resin landing gear wheels for the F-35B in 1:48 scale. It replaces the wheels from the plastic kit, which tend to be split into two halves: once glued, a seam runs right through the tire tread and across the rim, and it is laborious to clean up. Cast wheels remove that problem and carry a clearer tread pattern and finer rim detail. It is not an aircraft kit, the model has to be obtained separately. The manufacturer is the Czech firm Eduard.
The Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II is a single-engine multirole combat aircraft. The F-35B version is intended for short takeoff and vertical landing: it has a lift fan behind the cockpit and a swiveling engine nozzle, so it can do without a full runway and operates from short strips and from decks. Because of that arrangement the F-35B also differs from the other versions in the design and loading of the landing gear, which shows precisely on the wheels.
Cut the wheels off the casting blocks or print supports, true the mating faces and wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent to remove any remains of the mold release agent. Do the sanding wet and with respiratory protection. They are bonded with super glue. Do not paint the tire pure black: real rubber is more of a dark gray and lighter still once dusty. The rim is usually painted differently, so it helps to mask it; then bring out the transition between rim and rubber with a dark wash.
The set is supplied unpainted and without the base kit. Glue, paints and the aircraft model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
