1:48 Lockheed P-38H Lightning Expert kabuki masks from New Ware is a masking set of the highest grade in kabuki paper for a model of the P-38H aircraft in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The most extensive grade of the kabuki paper masking set for a model of the Lockheed P-38 Lightning in the H version, 1:48 scale. The set serves to make the paint cover only the areas it is meant to cover, and it is removed from the model once the painting is done. It is an accessory to a kit, and the model itself is not part of the package.
The Lockheed P-38 Lightning is a single-seat twin-engine fighter with twin tail booms and a central nacelle. The H version belongs to the series of the first half of the 1940s and brought modifications of the powerplant compared with the earlier series. The arrangement with the engines in the booms means that besides the cockpit the model has further areas where masking comes in useful, for example covers and transitions between assemblies. For a modeler that means more fine work, which pre-cut templates shorten noticeably.
Besides the glazing, the wheels are often masked as well with the more extensive sets. With them a simple rule applies: paint the hub first, then mask it and spray the rubber part, because a transition from a lighter color to a darker one covers better. Lay a wheel mask according to the center, not according to the edge. On the other areas take care that the edge of the mask lies where engraved detail will support it, otherwise the paint will flow under it. After removal let the model stand and only then apply the clear coat, as any adhesive residue would be accentuated under it. Always start removing from a corner and pull at an angle to the side.
This is a masking set. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
