1:48 Lockheed P-38J Lightning Pacific Lightning

Eduard 1:48 P-38J Lightning Pacific Lightning - decals

An aftermarket decal set in 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer Eduard. The package holds sheets of waterslide decals with six color schemes of twin-boom P-38J Lightning fighters used in the Pacific theater. The set is intended to be applied to a plastic model of the P-38J Lightning and widens its possibilities with varied period markings.

The real subject

The Lockheed P-38J Lightning was an American twin-engine fighter with its characteristic twin-boom layout and a central nacelle for the pilot. The J version brought a reworked cooling system in the wing leading edges and an increased fuel supply. In the Pacific the Lightnings made their name as long-range fighters and hunters, and a run of victories by American aces of the Fifth Air Force stands to their credit.

Applying the decals

• Apply the decals onto a glossy, smooth and degreased surface.
• Use warm water and a decal softener for perfect adhesion to the details.
• Once dry, go over the area with a protective varnish in the degree of gloss you want.

Who the set is for

• Modelers who want to give their Lightning an authentic Pacific finish.
• Collectors of Second World War aircraft and of the US Army Air Forces.
• Builders who will appreciate a richer choice of markings than in the base kit.

It is not a kit. The set holds only decals intended for a model of the P-38J Lightning; the model itself, paints and glue are not included in the package.
