CMK 1:48 M29 Weasel is an all-resin kit of the American tracked cross-country vehicle of the Second World War, intended for experienced modelers.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin kit of the American M29 Weasel tracked vehicle in 1:48 scale from the CMK brand. The words full resin kit in the name mean that this is a complete model cast in resin, not an accessory set for somebody else's kit. Working with resin differs from working with plastic, so the model suits experienced modelers better. The 1:48 scale goes with aircraft models, so the vehicle fits well into an airfield scene and among other ground equipment in the same scale.
The M29 Weasel is an American light tracked vehicle from the period of the Second World War. It came out of a requirement for a means of transport able to move through deep snow and soft ground where wheeled vehicles got stuck. Its characteristic features are very wide tracks and a low ground pressure, thanks to which the vehicle got through where an ordinary truck would have sunk. It was used to carry supplies, signals equipment and the wounded, on various fronts and after the war in civil and expedition service as well. Its small size makes it a rewarding model that can be built quickly and still has a strong character.
Wash the resin parts in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent first, to remove the mold release residue from the mold, otherwise the paint will not hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc rather than with nippers, which crumble resin. Sand wet and with respiratory protection; resin dust must not be inhaled. Glue the parts with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue), with an accelerator if you like; ordinary cement for plastic does not work. Lay down a primer before painting, which will also reveal small flaws in the surface. The wide tracks deserve a good layer of dust and mud, because that is what marked the vehicle most in service.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted as a resin kit. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
