A resin set intended for replacing the landing gear wheels on a plastic model of the Italian Macchi MC.200 fighter. It is not an aircraft kit but a detail accessory: the package holds the wheels and the painting masks for them. A resin casting catches the tire tread and the division of the hub more crisply than a split injection mold can, and the masks solve the most tiresome part of the job, namely a clean separation of the rubber from the hub during spraying.
The Macchi MC.200 Saetta was a single-seat fighter with a radial engine that formed the backbone of the Italian fighter force at the beginning of the Second World War. It went through a number of changes during production - the shape of the canopy, the shape of the rear fuselage and the design of the landing gear wheels all changed. The word early in the name refers precisely to the type of wheel used on the first production batches, so check against a photograph of the particular machine which variant your model needs.
Resin behaves differently from polystyrene. Wash the parts first in lukewarm water with detergent, otherwise the residue of mold release agent will stop the paint from drying into a solid film. Cut the casting block off with a fine-toothed saw or a cutting disc, and never break it off. Sand wet and with your airways protected. They are glued exclusively with cyanoacrylate glue; ordinary plastic cement will not dissolve resin. Before painting, spray a thin coat of primer, bring the tire together in a dark gray shade (black looks unnatural in scale) and spray the hub through the enclosed mask at the very end. Suggest dust and mud with pigments only on the contact patch.
This is an accessory for a plastic kit, not a model in its own right. It is supplied unpainted; paints, glue and the kit are not included in the package.
