The extended level of the masking set for building the AV-8B Harrier II in 1:48 scale. The self-adhesive masks are cut to fit the shape of the glazing and of the other masked areas. The difference from the basic level lies in the breadth of coverage: while the basic variant deals mainly with the canopy glazing, the ADVANCED level also takes in further items. Anyone who builds a model down to the detail and wants masking solved by a single set will reach for the higher level.
The cockpit is the most visible part of a finished model. A frame of uneven width or overspray on the transparency will spoil the impression of the whole model, no matter how cleanly the rest is built. A precisely cut mask gives the frames a constant width that can hardly be held freehand, and at the same time it protects the glazing from scratches during the work.
Apply the film to a clean, degreased and dry surface. Once it is in place, run a blunt tip along the edges so that they adhere everywhere. Spray perpendicular to the surface, not across the edge of the mask, and let each coat set. When it is time to remove the mask, lift a corner with a needle and pull it back over itself at a shallow angle. Any adhesive residue comes off with a gentle wipe using a dry cloth; for stubborn residue a cotton swab lightly moistened with alcohol will help, never acetone.
