A sheet of waterslide decals in 1:72 scale from the Hungarian manufacturer HAD models, intended for the four-engine Boeing B-17E Flying Fortress bomber of the US Army Air Forces. The markings relate to a particular machine carrying the name Birmingham Blitzkrieg. The package holds decals only, not a model.
The B-17E was the first version of the Flying Fortress with a markedly reworked rear fuselage, a tall fin and expanded defensive machine gun equipment including a tail gun position. It was precisely this form that gave the whole family its characteristic outline, which the later and more numerous versions then kept. It was a four-engine machine built for flight at high altitude, which matched both the supercharging of the engines and the equipment of the crew.
A smooth gloss base is the foundation. Once the model is painted, spray gloss clear coat, let it cure and only then work with the decals. Cut the design off closely, soak it in lukewarm water and wait until the film releases from the paper. Carry it to the model together with the backing and slide it carefully into place. Soak the residual water up and on riveted, busy areas add a softener. Large designs on the rounded nose are better laid on in pieces, checking as you go so that the film does not ripple.
This is a decal sheet, not a kit. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
