This is an accessory for a build, not a model. The set holds a self-adhesive masking film with precisely cut shapes that are transferred onto the parts of the model before spraying. The BASIC form is the basic grade of extent and is at the same time the entry-level option for this subject. The set is intended for the Zoukei-Mura kit.

The real subject

The F-4J and the F-4S are carrier versions of the two-seat twin-engine F-4 Phantom II. The S form came about by upgrading the older J. A model in 1:48 scale has a large, divided canopy over two seats, so there are many frames to mask and cutting them by hand would take a long time.

The procedure for masking a larger model

• Finish the cockpit and fit the glazing only once the interior is done and free of dust.
• Place the mask exactly the first time; on larger parts a corner of the frame is a good guide.
• Pack the openings of the cockpit and the landing gear bays with cotton wool or masking putty as well, so that no paint blows inside.
• Spray the target shade in two passes and always square to the surface.
• Take the mask off by pulling at an angle across the edge of the part, not straight up.

For modelers who want clean glazing and clean transitions without lengthy preparation. The basic extent is a sensible choice if you mainly need to solve the glazing and the wheels and do not need the widest set.
