The widest grade of the mask set for building the single-seat Hornet in 1:48 scale, in the A form and in the Canadian CF-18(A) variant. While the basic version handles mainly the canopy glazing, the EXPERT grade also covers further masked places. The difference between the two grades therefore lies in the breadth of the coverage, not in the quality of the cut or of the material.
Besides the canopy glazing, modern combat aircraft also call for masking small areas that are to stay in a different shade from their surroundings, and parts that paint must not reach. Ready-made cut shapes are quicker and more accurate there than a strip cut with a scalpel, above all on circular and oval outlines, which are very hard to cut out freehand.
Degrease the surface, move the mask with tweezers and press it down from the center to the edges. Spray thinned paint in thin coats, moving away from the mask into the surface. Once dry, peel a corner up with a needle and lift it off slowly, back across itself at a sharp angle. Leave the unused parts from the sheet on their backing paper and store them flat in an envelope, away from heat and sunlight; the adhesive will then keep its properties.
The package holds only the masks. A kit and paints are not part of it.
