The templates are machine-cut from a pliable film, so they follow even the bulged surfaces of the canopy and leave no adhesive residue behind when removed. Furball Aero-Design is an American maker of accessories focused on the aircraft of the US Navy and tactical air forces.
The Phantom II was a two-seat twin-engine aircraft with the distinctive dihedral of its outer wing panels and with anhedral tailplanes. It originated as a carrier machine for the Navy, but it spread quickly to land-based air forces and to a number of foreign users, where it served in various versions for decades. The cockpit has two separate hinged canopies and exceptionally divided framing — masking all the lines by hand with tape is an evening's work, and a mask set shortens it to a few minutes.
With a two-seat cockpit the order of painting is the key. First apply the masks to cleaned and degreased glazing, then spray the frames with the cockpit interior shade so that the airframe color does not show from inside. A light base follows, and only then the outer shade itself. Apply the paint at a right angle to the edge of the mask, not at a shallow angle under it. On long straight frames it helps to turn the masked part slowly while spraying, so that no build-up forms anywhere. Once it has set, lift the masks off with tweezers and clean up any fine overrun with a toothpick and a drop of water.
This is an add-on set for a kit you already own. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
