Self-adhesive stencils for painting the control surfaces of a Me-109 E-1/3/4/7 model. They define the edges of the ailerons and of both control surfaces, so these can be accentuated by spraying instead of being laboriously cut off. Two otherwise identical variants exist; this one is cut to the kit from Eduard.
The Emil was a turning point for Messerschmitt. The new Daimler-Benz DB 601 powerplant with direct fuel injection made maneuvers under negative g possible that the carburetor engines of the day could not stand. The wing received a square ending, the armament gradually grew from machine guns through cannon of twenty-millimeter caliber to a version adapted for a drop tank. Over the English Channel these machines fought Spitfires and Hurricanes, and their silhouette is known even to someone who takes no interest in aviation.
Try dry how a stencil seats on the part, and only then press it down for good. It works best on a smooth glossy base, where the edge seals. Lower the air pressure and spray square from above, so that paint does not get under the edge. After removal, go over the joins with a dry brush. A little bleed is easily evened out with a fine brush dipped in the color of the base; there is no reason to spray the whole part over.
