The set contains pre-cut self-adhesive masks intended to cover the cockpit glazing of a model in 1:48 scale. The double-sided designation means that the masks are prepared for the outer and the inner side of the canopy: the inside of the cockpit then looks just as clean after spraying as the view from outside, and the frames have a sharp edge on both sides. The parts are cut to the shape of the particular canopy, so the tedious cutting of tape with a knife directly on the model is avoided. The Messerschmitt Bf 110 G-4, also given as the Me 110 G-4, was the night fighter version of the twin-engine Bf 110 heavy fighter. It differed from the day versions mainly in its equipment for night combat and in the arrangement of the crew. The cockpit glazing on this type is long and complex, with a large number of frames, transitions and flat panels, and that is exactly why masking the canopy is among the most laborious parts of the build and pre-cut masks save the most time here.
Wash the clear parts before masking in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry in the open air, so that no greasy film from the mold or from your fingers stays on them. Lift the mask off the carrier film with tweezers, seat it dry and only then press it down with a soft tool from the center toward the edges. On rounded transitions, gentle warming and pressing with a cotton swab helps. Spray in thin coats: a thick coat of paint likes to tear when the mask is peeled off and leaves a step on the edge of the frame. Remove the mask while the paint has only just dried, at an acute angle toward yourself.
The set of masks is an accessory for painting a model. The model, paints, glue and thinners are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
