About product

1:48 Me 262B-1a/U1, a 3D printed color interior on decal paper (Dragon)

The set is printed on decal paper, so it is applied like a decal, but the surface has relief and color straight from the factory. Against single-seat machines this set is more extensive for one simple reason: the cockpit has two stations one behind the other. Besides the pilot's panel there is the rear station of the second crew member with its own equipment, and the two have to be seated so that they line up inside the fuselage. The set is cut for the Dragon kit in 1:48.

The real subject

The Me 262B-1a/U1 is the two-seat night variant derived from the B-1a trainer version. The rear cockpit served the operator of the airborne radar, who worked the search equipment while the pilot flew the aircraft. The division of the interior matches that: the front station is a classic flying one, while the rear is an instrument operator's station. The machine was built in small numbers and its cockpit differs from the single-seat version so much that interior sets for the single-seat Me 262 cannot be used on it.

How the set is applied

With a two-seat cockpit it pays off to work panel by panel and not to hurry. Cut from the sheet only the part you are applying at that moment and leave the rest on the paper, because a panel once separated and soaked is hard to store. Carry the panels with tweezers and seat them by sliding them on the film of water, never by pressing a finger on the relief. Finish the rear station first and then the front one, because inside the fuselage the further areas cannot be reached later. Before you close the fuselage up, check that all the decals are perfectly dry. You do not need a decal softener or a setting solution for this; on the contrary, they would damage the printed resin.

Who the set is for

  • Builders of the two-seat night version from the kit named, in 1:48.
  • Modelers who want the rear station equipped as well, not just the pilot's panel.
  • Those who build with an open canopy or with the access panels open.

This is an accessory, not a kit. The base model, paints and glue are not included in the package.

FAQ

It will not. The two-seat cockpit has a different layout and the set is shaped for it.

From the least reachable areas forward. Once the fuselage is closed, the rear station can no longer be reached.

Yes, the molded relief of the instruments is removed. A 3D decal needs a flat surface, otherwise it will not seat.
