One of the more extensive interior sets that can be had for 1:48 scale. This accessory from the Czech maker Eduard replaces the cockpit of a kit with resin castings and additionally deals with the radio compartment, that is the part of the fuselage immediately behind the pilot. It is not a model of the aircraft: the base kit you buy separately and the set is cut for it.
The Bf 109 of the E series had the radio equipment housed in the fuselage immediately behind the pilot's seat, reached through a service hatch. A kit usually does not deal with this part at all, because it is assumed that it will stay closed. Anyone who wants to open it gets ready equipment cast in resin here, together with a complete cockpit with three-dimensional detail that an injection mold cannot manage, from the floor structure to the small instrument fittings. The result is a model that has something to show outside the cockpit itself.
A resin set is work for a more experienced builder. Count on having to sand the inner walls of the fuselage so that the new tub seats; try it dry and in small steps, taking material off less at a time and more often. Separate the parts from the casting blocks with a saw or a cutting disc, not with nippers, because resin cracks. Sand with your airways protected, as the dust must not be inhaled. Before painting, wash all the parts in lukewarm water with a little detergent because of residues of release agent. It is glued exclusively with cyanoacrylate glue, as ordinary plastic cement will not join resin. It pays to plan an open service hatch before the fuselage halves are glued together.
This is an accessory set, not a standalone model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
