This set from Red Fox Studio holds three-dimensional (3D) decals for the cockpit of a plastic model. A color relief print gives the instrument panel and the interior surfaces a depth and a legibility that the hand painting of small dials in 1:48 scale could hardly match. According to the name the set also deals with the panel connected with the Wfr.Gr.21 armament, that is, a feature missing from an ordinary instrument panel. The set is cut for a particular kit and is an accessory to it, not a model of the aircraft on its own.
The Messerschmitt Bf 109G-6 was a German single-seat fighter with a liquid-cooled Daimler-Benz DB 605 engine, built from 1943 in the greatest numbers of all the versions of the type. The designation Wfr.Gr.21 belongs to a large-caliber unguided rocket fired from tubular launchers hung under the wing. German fighter units used it against closed formations of bombers, where the aim was to break up the formation rather than to score a precise hit. Installing the launchers called for additional controls in the cockpit, which showed in the fitting out of the pilot's compartment.
Three-dimensional decals are not released from their backing in water like classic wet decals. They are fitted to the interior parts before the fuselage halves are joined. The surface should be smooth, degreased and dry. Try the parts dry and for the application itself proceed according to the instructions of the maker of the set.
The set is an accessory for a kit. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
