Injection-molded plastic kit of the German Messerschmitt Me 262 A-2a/U2 jet aircraft in 1:48 scale from the maker Hobby Boss. The model captures the bomber subversion with a glazed nose for the bombardier's position. It offers a clean surface with fine engraving, a detailed cockpit, the clear parts of the canopy and a metal reinforcement of the nose gear. Check the exact contents of the box and the range of markings against the manufacturer's part number.
The Messerschmitt Me 262 was the first jet combat aircraft in the world to enter service in quantity. It was powered by two Junkers Jumo 004 jet engines under the wing and in the pure fighter version it carried four 30 mm cannon in the nose. The A-2a/U2 subversion was an experimental bomber modification with a glazed nose and a second crew member for more accurate bomb dropping. Only a small number were built.
Glue the parts with thin cement for plastic and secure the metal reinforcement of the nose gear with cyanoacrylate glue. Paint the cockpit and pick out its detail before closing up the fuselage, and glue the clear parts of the nose section carefully. Once the gloss coat and the decals are on, bring out the panel lines with a wash; the typical late-war German camouflage combines gray-green and brown shades with a mottled pattern.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
