The set from the maker 3DF brings a 3D printed replica of the German MG-FF aircraft cannon in the version with a manually controlled mount, intended for models in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit of an aircraft but a detail accessory with which you replace the coarser plastic part of the armament from the base kit or fit out a defensive gun position. Direct printing allows the thin outlines of the barrel, the jacket and the attachment of the mount to be brought out more sharply than an injection mold can manage.
The MG-FF was a 20 mm aircraft cannon stemming from the design of the Oerlikon firm. In the Luftwaffe it spread at the end of the 1930s and became the first large-caliber weapon with which a whole range of types could be armed. Besides fixed installations in the wings and in the fuselage of fighter aircraft it was also used in flexible mounts in the defensive gun positions of bombers, where a gunner aimed it by hand and could cover more directions. It is precisely this flexible variant that the set captures, so it suits above all the glazed nose and ventral positions.
Cut the parts off the print supports with a sharp scalpel and level the marks they leave with fine abrasive paper; use respiratory protection when sanding. Cyanoacrylate glue proves itself for gluing, because ordinary cement for plastic does not take on printed material. Lay a thin coat of primer on before painting, bring the barrel out with a dark steel shade and finally underline the details with a light dark wash.
