The 1:48 Mi-24A package from the BIG ED line brings together several Eduard photo-etched sets for the Mil Mi-24A attack helicopter.
Responsibility details are not available.
At Eduard the abbreviation BIG ED denotes a combined package into which the manufacturer puts several separately released photo-etched sets intended for a single type. The modeler thus has both interior and exterior parts together and does not have to hunt for them piece by piece. The material is photo-etched metal, and some of the frets in this line are color printed. A plastic kit of the helicopter is needed for the build and is sold separately.
The first production form of the Hind looked quite different from the later machines. The pilot and the operator sat under a single large canopy that earned the nickname greenhouse; the separate cockpits with their bubbles arrived only with the D version. The Mi-24A carried a movable 12.7 mm machine gun in the nose, rocket launchers under the wing and Falanga anti-tank missiles. Alongside its armament it could take a squad of troops in the fuselage, so it combined an attack helicopter with a transport in a way no one else managed at the time.
Separate the frets with a blade on a firm surface rather than with cutters, otherwise the part will twist. Adjacent bends come out precisely on a bending tool, or at a pinch between two blades. Metal is degreased before painting and given a coat of primer, otherwise the finish flakes off.
