A set of photo-etched parts in 1:48 scale for a model of the Soviet MiG-17F fighter. Thin metal sheet allows detail that injection-molded plastic is too coarse for.
Responsibility details are not available.
The MiG-17F is a Soviet single-engined jet fighter with a swept wing and the air intake in the nose of the fuselage. It grew out of the MiG-15 but has a slimmer fuselage, a different wing and better behavior at high speeds. The F version received an engine with an afterburner, which showed outwardly in a lengthened rear fuselage. The armament consists of cannons under the nose and drop tanks can be carried under the wing. The aircraft served in dozens of countries and remains to this day one of the most frequently built Cold War subjects.
Photo-etched parts of thin metal sheet for a model in 1:48 scale. Photo-etch is used where the material is meant to look thin, that is on instrument panels, belts, grilles, covers and small flat details. The extent of the set, the placement of the parts and the kit the set is cut for are given in the manufacturer's instructions, so check that it matches your model beforehand.
The parts are held in the fret on thin tabs. Do not break them out but cut them with a sharp blade on a hard surface and sand the remainder of the tab down. Make the folds in a bender or between two blades, so that the edge comes out crisp and straight. Metal is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, which you apply with the tip of a needle, not straight from the bottle. Before painting, degrease the parts and lay a thin coat of base color for metal on them, otherwise the finish will peel off during handling.
The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
