A detail set from the Czech maker Aires in 1:48 scale. It is not an aircraft model but a resin accessory - landing gear bays in cast resin, usually complemented by small photo-etched parts. A bay is the space in the airframe into which the landing gear retracts after takeoff; on a finished model with the gear down it is clearly visible.
The set replaces the shallow and simplified plastic bays with faithful castings with a dense structure of ribs, wiring and hydraulics that injection-molded plastic cannot capture. The set is intended for the plastic MiG-29 kit from Academy. Check the exact contents of the package and the number of parts on the package of the set.
Separate the parts from the casting blocks, wash them free of mold release agent and degrease them. Usually the space in the plastic has to be sanded out so that the resin bay sits down. It is bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate); reckon with fine-tuning the fit. Wear a respirator when sanding resin.
An accessory for a kit, not a standalone model. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; the kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
