Injection-molded plastic kit of the MiG-31 Foxhound heavy interceptor in 1:48 scale from Hobby Boss. It is a large model of a two-seat machine with a massive fuselage, a pair of engines and the characteristic angular air intakes. The box contains injection-molded plastic sprues, glazing for both cockpits and a decal sheet; the exact contents and the number of schemes depend on the particular release.
The MiG-31 is a Soviet and later Russian heavy supersonic interceptor from the Mikoyan design bureau, introduced as the successor to the MiG-25 Foxbat, from which it derives structurally. It is one of the heaviest and fastest production fighters in the world: two powerful D-30F6 engines give it a high supersonic speed at high altitude. The crew consists of a pilot and a weapon systems officer; the machine carries a powerful radar and is intended to intercept high and fast flying targets at long range.
Glue the plastic with liquid modeling cement and join the large fuselage parts with an eye to true seams. Finish the interior of both cockpits and fit the seats before you close the fuselage, which matters all the more on a two-seat machine. Fit the glazing only after painting and protect it with masks. Primer, an airbrush and emphasis on the panel lines are recommended; fit the external stores and the racks at the end of the build.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
