The product is not a kit but an accessory for painting a model. The set contains machine-cut painting masks of kabuki paper. Among New Ware sets, EXPERT is the most comprehensive level of coverage; the lower levels are designated BASIC and ADVANCED. On the two-seat version the masking is considerably more laborious than on the single-seater, because the glazing is longer and more broken up, so the wider coverage of the set pays off.
The MiG-21 is among the most widely used supersonic fighters in history and served in dozens of countries. The UM version is the two-seat trainer variant with a second cockpit for the instructor placed behind the pupil; because of that it has a different shape of the spine and a different arrangement of canopies than the single-seat combat versions. MiG-21 trainers flew with a number of users long after the combat versions had finished, which gives the modeler a wide choice of finishes.
Fit and degrease the glazing first and only then mask it. Deal with the two cockpits separately and keep checking against the light whether a mask has lifted anywhere. If you are building the model with the canopies open, remember to mask the inner side of the clear parts as well, otherwise the frame will be transparent from the inside. Spray the camouflage thinly and in several coats. Once the paint has set, remove the mask slowly and at a sharp angle so that it does not pull the edge of the paint away.
The masks are cut to the shape of a particular kit, in this case the Trumpeter kit; check that it matches your model before buying. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
