The Mil Mi-17 is a multipurpose helicopter derived from the widespread Mi-8 type. It has a five-blade main rotor and a roomy cargo compartment with sliding side doors and with clamshell doors at the rear. The machines serve in the transport, airborne and rescue roles with dozens of users all over the world, the Czech Republic not excepted, and thanks to the long production run they can be met with in an inexhaustible number of finishes. For a modeler it is a large subject, on which there is good seeing into the cockpit and into the cargo compartment during the build.
The set is made up of photo-etched metal parts for a model of the Mi-17 in 1:48 scale. Photo-etched sheet metal makes it possible to render elements that are only suggested in injection-molded plastic: harnesses, buckles, plates, grilles and fine flat shapes. The list of parts and their placing on the model are given by the manufacturer in the enclosed instructions, by which you will also tell the order of the work.
Straighten the sheet metal out on a smooth backing before working, so that the parts are not left bent. Separate the individual parts with a sharp blade, not with pliers, and run a fine file over the remainder after separating. Make the bends along the marked line, and on long parts a bender helps. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue applied with the tip of a thin wire, because an excess dries into a white veil. Degrease the sheet metal before painting and apply a primer for metal.
The kit, paints, glue and tools are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
