Two anniversaries on one sheet: seventy years of escadron 3/11 Corse and a hundred years of escadrille SPA 88 on a French Mirage 2000-5F, 1:48 scale.

The designation of this sheet joins two different celebrations. The first concerns the escadron de chasse 3/11 with the traditional name Corse and seventy years of its existence; the second recalls a hundred years of escadrille SPA 88. The French Air Force keeps a double pedigree: the air groups themselves are younger, whereas the escadrilles with their animal emblems reach back to the First World War and move from one unit to another.
The finish is carried by the single-seat interceptor Mirage 2000-5F, that is the most modern French form of this delta-winged type. Its identifying feature is the tailless layout without horizontal tail surfaces, a long slender fuselage and circular side air intakes with movable cones.
Commemorative schemes of this kind usually carry the historic badge of the escadrille across the whole vertical tail surface and complete it with a band bearing the years. It is exactly such areas that make the best impression in 1:48 scale, because the artwork has enough room and the small details stay legible even once dry.
Before building, check which of the two celebrations you want to render, because they differ in the accompanying lettering and in the placing of the lettering on the fuselage.
