A 3D printed accessory from Eduard for a model of the Japanese Mitsubishi A6M3 carrier fighter in 1:48 scale. It replaces the plastic tail wheel, that is the rear wheel of the landing gear, with a part of sharper definition. It is not an aircraft model but a small component for a plastic kit you already have.
The rear wheel tends to be coarsely done in kits, because it is small and the mold parting line runs across it. A printed replacement has no parting line to sand away and holds the fine tread pattern and the shape of the fork. On a finished model it is a detail that a viewer notices above all on machines displayed at eye level or on a diorama.
A Zoom set is a smaller, pre-painted selection from the full photo-etched set; the full photo-etched set is more extensive and reaches into external details too; masks are self-adhesive templates for the glazing and the wheels; bundled sets bring several sets together in one package; decal sets contain markings only. Wash the part in lukewarm water with detergent and let it dry. Separate it from the support structure carefully with a sharp scalpel, as small parts fly off easily; work over a mat with a raised edge. It is bonded with super glue, which you meter out with a pin so that it does not run over. Set the tire and the hub apart in color and at the end consider a light dusting of pigment, so that the wheel does not lose its in-scale fineness.
